In January educare staff and volunteers attended a four day Retreat at the Blue Butterfly, Welbedacht Reserve in Tulbagh. This was our second COLT annual retreat. It allows time for each person to nurture themselves physically, spiritually and mentally in a safe sanctuary. For the team it is an important time of bonding, providing the perfect springboard for launching into the new school year.
To provide a sacred, safe and loving environment for our traumatised children it is important that the teachers and dedicated Educare volunteers working with the children feel whole and nurtured themselves. A four day Retreat at the Blue Butterfly in Tulbagh was organised for 13 – 16 January for staff. The Divine stillness and mountain air of this sanctuary on the Welbedacht Reserve allowed us time to reconnect with nature and the universe. Also, it gave the seven of us an opportunity to learn more about each other and more about ourselves!
The Educare opens for the children on 22 January. The new children and their parents had an orientation session at the end of last year and quite a few are siblings of children who graduated at the end of 2019. We anticipate that 2020 will be another year of incredible growth and learning at the Children of Light Educare, and that this will be carried over into the communities where our children live.
